All of our passionate and dedicated teachers meet the highest international standards with formal qualifications and extensive experience in teaching English to adults.

Our minimum requirements for teachers are:

  • education to degree level or equivalent qualification
  • a certificate level qualification in teaching English as a foreign language such as Cambridge University CELTA or Trinity College London CertTESOL
  • at least two years’ teaching experience
  • high proficiency in the use of the English language.

Meet some of our teachers

Abeer Faisal Alamin

Abeer is one of the most experienced adult teachers at the British Council, Khartoum. She has a UK Masters degree in TESOL, a higher diploma in TESOL from Trinity College and a CELTA from Cambridge ESOL.

She has significant experience including teaching adults, young learners, business, EAP and IELTS preparatory courses.  She is currently a core teacher in the centre, supporting other teachers and significantly cooperating in other developmental programmes. Both her teaching knowledge and expertise are demonstrated in her dynamic learner-centred classes.

Agnieszka Pawlicka

Aggie was brought up in a bilingual environment and speaks two languages – English and Polish. She taught English in a number of different schools in Poland before moving to Scotland which is her second home. In Scotland she taught a variety of ESOL subjects to international students.

Aggie enjoys teaching skills for life as she believes they are a very important part of the language learning process.
