A new online learning course to help civil society organisations with their communication skills with training in social media, videography, photography and strategic planning is launched today.
The course is accessed via WhatsApp on mobile devices to make it widely available and is free.
It is in two modules. The first covers understanding audiences, planning a communications strategy, running successful information campaigns and working with the media.
The second is a practical guide to creating content using words, photos and video, organising events and using social media successfully.
Both modules are interactive using a question and answer format.
The content has been produced by Thomson Foundation in partnership with British Council, Sudan and funded by UKAid.
“Civil Society Organisations are doing important work in Sudan and hopefully this course will help them tell their stories in new innovative ways and reach a wider audience.” said Helen Scott, Director of Thomson Foundation’s Sudan projects.
“Sudanese civil society organisations are playing a pivotal role in supporting Sudan's current transition to democracy. The British Council hopes that this course will help CSOs to develop greater capacity in communicating about their work, thereby raising their profiles and showcasing the impact of their interventions on communities across Sudan, in new, creative and interesting ways.” said Robin Davies, Country Director, British Council Sudan.
“Sudanese civil society organisations have an important role in safeguarding Sudan’s revolution. This course will provide practical support to help them communicate with impact, to facilitate citizens’ participation in transitional processes, and to demand accountability and progress on transitional goals.” said Annabel Charnock, Acting Development Director, British Embassy Khartoum.
