Following recent directives from the Government of Sudan, the British Council has limited its operations and introduced several restrictions to ensure the health and safety of our staff and customers. While the office remains closed to external visitors and customers, our staff is still working, including remotely, to ensure business continuity.
We have taken very strict preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus, including cancelling current and upcoming examinations, suspending our face to face English classes, halting all events and pausing activities that bring people together, whether for capacity building, collaboration or training. And of course we have had to reduce the foot traffic in the office to a minimum by enabling most of our staff to work from home.
We understand the impact of these measures on our customers, partners and stakeholders including in Government, but the safety of everyone is paramount. We are working around the clock to ensure that we are responding as effectively as possible and offering feasible alternatives to routine activity where we can.
In the meanwhile, we are exploring ways to increase the efficiency of our work and connect more with our audience virtually until these challenging times begin to abate. Please keep updated about what we do please by following our COVID 19 updates page and our Facebook page ‘British Council Sudan’ for online learning opportunities.
Wishing everyone good health during these unsettling times for all.
Robin Davies, Country Director, British Council Sudan.
